Default Issue with trying to save waypoints - 06-05-2007

Just when I'm about to wrap up a few of my maps, I find that even though I save my recently completed waypoints they are not saved when I reload the map. Any idea why? I'm going to hold off on waypointing until the work I perform is actually saved, lol.

Not sure in your case but in Fritzbot ET there is a bug of sorts. If you enable the editor in the game and hit node_save before doing the vid restart (that makes the nodes visible) then the nav file ends up being empty. What this tells me is I should not bind the 2 commands to neighboring keys but that would mean retraining the human element, so instead I just try to save a lot of copies to compensate.

Hmm, in my case I don't hit save before vid_restart. I can't tell what the problem is, as I have never had this problem before.

Any chance that you have waypoints for the same map elsewhere in a .pk3 in your fritzbot folder? If so, ET will load that version and it'll appear as if your edited waypoints didn't get saved. They actually ARE saved, though. Check the .nav file and note the date and time to check this.

Solution is to temporarily remove the offending file from the fritzbot folder while you're waypointing.

I thought of that myself. I was just about to check on that after reading any new posts on this topic. Thanks for the info. Also, this happens to be RTCW that I'm waypointing, not ET. Thanks again.

Ya, that was the problem. Thanks for the info. I guess I should just delete the pk3 file from the other location so that the file stops getting saved to the extra pk3?

Your waypoints are not saved to the pk3. You'll find them in fritzbot/bots/maps as <mapname>.nav. Just move the offending pk3 out of the fritzbot folder if you want to save it or delete at your option.
