Default Flashing vga bios: 9800 Pro. hmmm - 12-03-2005

My pro is giving me nightmares!!!
Its default speeds are 350 core and 300 mem, according to atitool.

So I went of to find a new bios with similtar specs to my card which uses 3.3 hynix memory.

Tried to flash using flashrom and atiflash. ERROR.?
Block protect not disabled.
??
Any one else have this problem with any card?

p.s. yes I did use -f to try and force it and did use the correct file name for the new bios.

Why do u need new bios? If u just want to overclock then just use Rivatuner or simply install Omega drivers.
BTW what exactly flasher says? Bios can be locked (sh.. happens).

Maybe you have some sort of jumper on the card that prevents BIOS flashing... I recall some old 486 motherboards had that.

no there isn't anything on the mobo blocking it since I uped its bios (twice, worth it too for overclocking, more stability), so I can't see why my video card would be locked.
When I bought it there was no box or anything but I did get it cheaper, it is supposed to be from tul(powercolor) or what ever their new name is.
I want to see if I can get a boost from a different bios.
Plus naturally higher clocks because I don't like having to use atitool, relying on that means I have to run another progie, adding to the long list that is protection and safety.
hmmmm.

Well incase anyone is wondering, I did get a good nights sleep only to awake to an exam. The joys of Calculus 2.
Oh well
I found somewhere on the web that the solution was to use the command:
flashrom -f -p -sst 0 <filename>.bin
And worked only to get alot of corruption.
Lucky I backed up my bios so I went back and found I could o'c a wee bit more acheiving 2100 marks in 3Dmark05 as opposed to 2070.
Strange but hey what the hell its an improvement can't complain and no its wasn't the new drivers.
