Cool Out of Curiosity - 23-05-2006

I was asking myself what kind of AI technologies are behind most of the bots that get out

I think the majority are based on FSM(finite state agent) combined with waypointing ,
a very few number of known bots implement more sophisticated stuff like genetics , neural networks and the like , Actually evolutionary strategies have become almost a classic in the AI field , but I haven't seen a game BOT making use of such technologies!

maybe I make one for cstrike or Quake , since i'm not so alien from the AI field

How you code a bot if there is no engine to run it. In this way you just make "empty" code.

EMpty code?? ......that's half the truth !
I'm coding the AI Engine(C++ DLL) in a way which allows it to be called from anywhere..

but of course I need a simulator or something (like an fsp game ) in order to run the AI Code
and that's excatly why I came here in the first place!

Why you just don't release the code under some open source license. The coders will use it, I'm sure and you will be credited of course.

Actually i haven't finished the AI Code completly , let's say..... that I have done about 95% !
the other 5% I expect to finish very soon
But about how to release it , I was thinking a little bit differently.
First of all I'm going to making some compiled bots for quake or cstrike that implements my AI Engine.....
then I'll go fraging my own bots until the dawn rises or till THEY frag me!
and after I get convinced of my bots' skills , I will unleash the beast to force the world into its Kneeeees Muuhahah........eeh.....just kidding!
and after that.....I......will think about what to do next!

How you code that AI without base ??? You don't have any engine or something like that to test it. So how you code it ?

OK OK I understand your point!
it's natural to be skeptical at first , but I'm sure you will lose all your doubts when you see the results
as I said previously I'm almost finished , just be patient...

Hmm how actually can be called from everywhere? How you will run that AI from everywhere if the AI don't know what to do with the specific game, the game even will not load it because you need by the game headers to make something like hooking?
Anyway if you are so pro coder of AI you will not have problem to make server-side bot with that AI...

Can You express it more what did You mean as this "You aren't so alien from the AI field"? You want to say You are some known AI programmer? Why didn't we hear about You before?
