we had to put it on port 6668 because the hosting providers routing hardware filters out port 6667... Yes, not many people hang out there yet but hey, Bots United is 2 weeks old so what would you expect ? It's up to us to meet there more often...
RACC home - Bots-United: beer, babies & bots (especially the latter) "Learn to think by yourself, else others will do it for you."
omg.. i wanted to ask about your host, but i guess i do not - wtf do they filter out the port, now how gay is that? sigh...
btw regarding your server software, id recommend undernet IRCu + srvx channel/network services, can maintaina channel userlist, user authentication, network management + statistics, etc.., very simple and useful, it's what gamesnet uses..

oh and lo cheesemonster
Were using unrealircd + cygnus services.
we have all the above mentioned
6667 is host-filtered because were are on a special deal, our server is right on the mainframe of the provider, like their hosting servers, and its using the same firewall / anti-dDoS tools like the hosting servers, and those have 6667 blocked. Thats the only reason why. doesnt matter tho, 6668 is fine iwth me
hehe.. i wanted to post here that i dont actually like unrealircd, its got too many features and too many bugs... but then i thought oh well let them use it... now a few hours later i wanted to see whos on, did a simple /who and the server crashed apparently, all people got disconnected - i cant reproduce the bug, so its a more complicated issue apparently, though that proves that 'the general thoughts' about unrealircd seem to be true
i can again only recommend ircu, the top 2 networks with together above 300k users use it

What time was that. I did a server restart sometime yesterday ...
well now thatd be quite a fluke... it really disconnected me and the others exactly after i typed the who command.. what time did you do the restart?
oh and why btw, normally you shouldnt need to restart it except if you recompiled it?
anyway, maybe it was the restart, cause afaik it was up again instantly after we were disconnected, except if you have someting running that checks if the server is running and auto restarts it after a crash..
