I hate MicroSoft too, but sadly, its the only OS I know.
And its hard enough to find time to work on Fritz as it is, so you can imagine how time to learn/program on a new OS is non-existent.
Sorry guys - but hopefully, you'll find that the new Fritz will make dealing with MircoCrap at least somewhat tolerable (for as long as it takes you to play anyhow!).
Have seperate builds like a windows one with the FG42 and a Linux one without it?
This is very possible, but would prolly cause more problems then it solves - you would never know which version any server you'd connect to would be running.
What would have to be done in Lunux to get the mod to run in Linux? What I mean is, if I could persuade a person knowledgable in writing code for Linux to find the time to look into it, would it be a simple or difficult task to accomplish? Mrs "f0x" (my oldest daughter) is a pretty good Linux programmer - she's written a database to assist her in her phD thesis and has written her own MUDD, among other things. She's pretty busy now but might be amenable if the price is right. <grin>
Otherwise, the f0x may have to go to a dual-boot config to be able to play with me. A nuisance to be sure, but just a nuisance!
My current machine is running Fedora Core 4, it seems to me, (currently) that it will be a long drawn out process to get xp installed. For it will want to wipe my drive completely. Sigh~
