You can ask your questions and I'll try to answer. However I should point out that all 3 major bots for ET are closed-source so neither you nor I have access to their code.

As I understand it almost none of the code in \botai was used in FritzBot. I also guess that Bobots developers avoided that code too. Logically I can't see Omnibot using it either. That code was created most likely in the attempt to create a single player version like RTCW SP. But the SP version of ET was not completed ASAIK when Splash Damage and ID abandoned ET over issues like graphic textures for terrains (What in ETQW are megatextures). You could post a question in Splash Damage's editting ET forum to see if anybody has tried using that code and what is missing. Learning the code might be useful to get some ideas but not useful to use directly.

There is an old and unfinished RTCW bot project that is open source. It should give some ideas on how to start one for ET since the SDK's are very similar.

Source download is linked in the first post on this page: ubersoldat

IIRC, Maleficus was helping somewhat with that mod.

afaik the stuff in botai/ are useless leftovers from Quake 3 Arena.

From a quick look the finite state-machine stuff is almost identical to Q3A, such as go for Flags in CTF or other Q3-specific stuff which obviously doesn't apply to the gameplay RTCW or ET.

not sure I'm correct though - I haven't tried to do anything more than some trivial changes with the rtcw sdk yet.

---
EDIT: well just realized the et sdk actually did change the Q3-specific stuff (only rtcw sdk kept them)... sorry my bad
