Default Joebot and cs 1.6? - 10-02-2004

Since the new steam update this morning, I didn't manage to make Joebot 1.6.3 to work. The listenserver crashes on load... if someone is luckier than me...

I've joebot running at my server, since realbot doesn't work anymore. I use the metamod version but also the "normal" version worked.
No crashes so far, bots join and play well.
BUT all bots "warp" synchronously every second then they stop moving for a moment. It looks like they're lagging a lot :-)

I've recompiled the bot myself from the CVS sources but that didn't change anything. As I don't have a clue what's the cause of this lag I've been unable to fix it so far :-(

Disable any other bot you have installed, maybe that why they "lag".

No other bots active besides joebot. And the server is idle all time...

I haven't seen this synchronous lag on my server. What kinda specs do you have for your server?

Well, I should have posted an update about this :-)

The synchronous lag happend at my second (clanwar) server. Meanwhile I copied joebot to my public server and I joebot runs quiet well there.

Specs of my second server (the one with the lags):

  • Athlon Thunderbird-C 1200MHz
  • 896 MB memory
  • 100 MBit/s internet connection
  • Adaptec AHA-3942
  • IBM DNES-309170W SCSI-harddisk (9 GByte)
  • IBM DCAS-34330W SCSI-harddisk (4 GByte)
  • Linux kernel 2.6 (Debian 3.0)
  • Counter-Strike 1.6 Server

  • ClanMod v1.81.26
  • LogMod v0.7a
  • SoundCheck v1.21
  • CheatingDeath v4.11.0
Specs of my public server (no lags):Apache Webserver

  • Apache WebserverAthlon XP 1800+
  • 256 MByte memory
  • 100 MBit/s internet connection
  • 20GB harddisk (IDE)
  • Linux version 2.6 (Debian 3.0)
  • Apache Webserver
  • Counter-Strike 1.6 Server:

  • LogMod v0.7a
  • CDeath v4.11.0
  • AMX v0.9.8a
  • JoeBot v1.6.3
  • CS STATS v0.9.7
  • FUN v0.9.8a

Just a guess but maybe it's either clanmod or soundcheck since these are not on your public server. Try running with just joebot and see if it lags. Then add each plugin and see if it lags.

As nobody else reported this problem and the installation of joebot at this server was only for testing purposes - it doesn't matter anymore :-)
