Default Bots Vs Boost - 22-03-2005

Just a quick question on Bots and Boost 2.4. I added Boost 2.4 to try to improve the servers overall response times. Whilst this worked and worked well, the bots just didn't seem to be there same old selves. Instead of my usualy welcoming commitee of the pump action bot that can blow my head off at 100 meters, I've recently been able to get in behind them - without some of them noticing....... (Mr Stabby strikes again)

As they run, they seem to be keeping their guns down and the accuracy is not there. When I switch Boost off, it returns. So my questions are

Can I boost without affecting the bots operationally? If someone has got these to work together? If my other question is answered, I can take it to Jussis forums and ask there.

What is it about Boost that affects the bots operations? o_O

It's probably because this Boost affects somehow botaim algorithm (calculation of frame rate in it etc...). Maybe give us a link to this plugin and - maybe sPlOrYgOn will look at this him-self.

To be honest, I dont like to post links unless I'm asked to, so without further ado http://forums.unitedadmins.com/index...&f=166&t=38008

As the standard FPS is raised to around 250, it has lowered response time but at the expense of the bots. Pings are generally 10 - 15% lower so its been a popular move with the players but not with the bots. As it can be configured in different ways, I'll put down my Boost config too if I may?

booster_show_connmsg 0
booster_autofps 0
booster_minsleepms 6
booster_force_systicrate 0
booster_cpu_enabled 1
booster_cpu_spikemax 3
booster_cpu_spikelevel 50
booster_cpu_floor 40
booster_cpu_mminc 2
booster_cpu_quiettime 300
booster_cpu_mmmin 3
booster_cpu_mmmax 8

booster_lite_mode 3 //was value 3

booster_lite_extra_sleep_frequency 0

My system is a Semp 2400, 1 gig 200 ram, Win XP.

Metamod 1.17.4 running
[ 1] POD-Bot mm RUN - podbot_mm.dll vR2b46b ini Chlvl ANY
[ 2] AMX Mod X RUN - amxmodx_mm.dll v1.00 ini ANY ANY
[ 3] {PAF} HostiTron RUN - hostitron_mm.dll v3.00.10 ini ANY Pause
[ 4] Bleeding RUN - bleeding_mm.dll v2.1 ini Start ANY
[ 5] HLGuard RUN - hlguard_mm_optim v1.72 ini Chlvl Chlvl
5 plugins, 5 running.

I'm going to try playing with settings of Booster_lite as Boost has 2 differing and incompatable functions. I'll let you know how its goes.

I've just realised that I'm back to running R2B46b - its funny what you can learn in the forums when you read them lol.:o I meant to put back in R2B45 for the breakables. I'll see if the old version of the bots has the same problem.

Buzzkill himself has been kind enough to tell me much the same thing on the Booster forums. Increased FPS is likely to alter the calculations the bots make. I'm going to try for a target FPS of a stable 100 (at the moment it can and does run up to 250FPS) and see how that works. I have also increased some of the bot levels simply to make them react faster.

I'll let you know how it goes.

running at 250fps might cause problems with the famous and often used msec code, since that uses integers representing milliseconds, which is pretty low at 250fps

Yeah - we know this boost mess up a bit the botaim code, but sPlOrYgOn is too much busy to try solve this problem now.

So if it's to do with the bots aim msec integer, which will be confused by running at 250 fps, if I change the way that boost is set up so it runs at around 100fps - the accuracy should return?

It does not really matter about a fix for the moment, if I can work round it. Perhaps this problem should be added to the suggestions/improvements thread too?

Just a follow up on the bot vs boost. I have tried various configurations in order to keep the FPS down with boost (contradiction I know lol) so it does not throw out the msec code too much. Nothing worked so I have just taken boost out of my configuration. Now the players are complaining that they can't knive the bots anymore. You can't please some people lol.

FPS is too high, HLDS was designed to run at 100fps so try setting "booster_autofps 120".
