Default How to do ladder wp? - 27-07-2004

Just played with bots on de_train and I noticed that the official wp has some bugs. See the images I attached.

If you call bots for help (need_backup) on the top of the ladder, they will come for you, but when they reach at the (almost) top, they stuck there. There might be two reasons:

1. the top ladder wp is not high enough so that they are blocked by the wall.
2. the connecting point is too far so that they cannot reach.

I edited the waypoint, made the higher one a bit higher, made the connecting point right beside the top ladder wp. and then guess what? they gave up the ladder and tried to find another route to get to the higher position.

So how do you guys do ladder waypoints? Am I doing anything wrong?
Can anyone make a working one? Thanks

you probably forgot to fix up the paths..
they only get stuck on ladders if the waypoint isn't high enough and to get off the ladder you have go to the side..

here's how i do the top wp's

get on the ladder center your self to the middle of the ladder (do this crouched is easier)

try to keep straight and centered while doing this bit:

then start climbing backwards lookin at your feet staying in the middle...once near top goto no clip mode and keep climbing until your pass the ladder top to the point where you think the ladder wp will toally clear the top ledge...u croch and place wp

have a look at it if it's the same height or higher than the ledge than it'll work fine

and check how u make connections to the top ladder make it in a way that they cant fall down that ladder

then test it with bots...they'll tell you if it works usually does for me

for you

here's what i would do (plz dont mind my messy painting i didn't wanna fire up cs ) removing any useless wp's like the one u want to connect to in ladder2 and the one on an angle connection to ladder in ladder 1

in ladder1:

u can use two wp's nearby but make them as far apart as u can even if it means sticking once right necxt tot the wall and the other next to the box

also the incoming wp place as close to the edge connecting to both the top and middle wp...they'll fall and cath the ladder
