i wouldn't mix brands unless they are they EXACT same specs... like chip arrangement, size, registered, ECC, speed


and did you say it came with a blue heat spreader on it... i can tink of a few brands that use those.... Giel, Kingston, and i think corsair does. yeah maby if you provide a picture i can compare them

AIDA32 is a utility free for personal use (a bit like SiSoft Sandra) that can tell you that.

latency is the main one... I restored my whole system before I found out about that.

You mean you had fast timings set uüp in the BIOS, and your first memory stick could handle them. But when you added a second stick, you had to find out that it didn't run at such fast timigs, huh? Or did you mean something else? 'Cuz that can indeed be a problem...

Take care of RAM type, bus speed and latency, and you're set.

no, they were both nearly to0p of the range sticks, but one was more top of the range than the other. My BIOS didn't have any latency settings - something quite a few people I have spoken to find weird.

That's indeed odd and normally something only to be found on cheaper MoBos... at least AFAIK.
