Default third party bots - 02-03-2004

I've done some searches at sourceforge. Here is what I found there:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/kxbot/ - December 30, 2003
http://sourceforge.net/projects/rhobot/ - January 30, 2002

http://sourceforge.net/projects/mckillbot/ - seams to be abandoned
http://sourceforge.net/projects/fteambot/ - nothing released (dead)
http://sourceforge.net/projects/zet0nhl/ - nothing released (dead)

Well, most of them are "useless" as they either didn't release any files or stopped development. But at least kxbot had some activity in the near past and some interessting goals :-)

kxbot... I recall having seen something like this at botman's, some months ago... something based off the ISAAC/EINSTein work about multiple characters AI.

But let's not dream too much: when a bot author starts talking about the "emergent squad behaviour" of his bot, it just means: "well, actually my bot has no squad behaviour at all, but I just hope that when they bunch up altogether and bump into each other some people will believe they act like a squad"...

well, emergent behavior isnt all the way dreaming, that's clear, but some ppl tend to use it that way

e.g. simple avoidance rules would can result in emergent behaviours ... and it looks really nice

and if it's really all the way dreaming, a lot of university researchers were quite good in fooling the audience for getting money for their toys

just look at my signature, taffer

about releasing stuff and going public, I have lot work to do, and files on sf.net are pretty old nowadays. Latest improvemenst were implementing autowaypoiting (needs tweaking) and obstacles avoiding (works pretty well ). Now I am focused on multiagent cooperation, I want bots to search map together, but each will have it's own map representation (waypoints) ......
