I bought some ram for my system, but i'm getting error messages about data being unable to be read from the ram, which started as soon as i stuck the new ram in. I get these messages when i play my games such as half-life 2, which causes it to shut down, and then the error message pops up. Here are my system specs:

SY-KT600 Dragon Plus v2.0 motherbaord
x1 stick of 512mb pc2700 333mhz ddr ram
Asylum Geforce FX 5900 128mb
Audigy sound card
maxtor 160gb ata133 hard drive and a western digital 40gb
450w power supply
athlon xp 3000 400fsb processor

Like i said earlier, i have no idea what brand the ram is but i do know how much of it i have and what speed. The stick i tried putting in was a pny ddr 512mb pc2700 333mhz. Here are some exact specs for it:

Memory Size: 512MB
Memory Type: PC2700 DDR
Pin Configuration: 184-Pin
Memory Speed: 333MHz
Manufacturer: PNY

Features:

* Speed: 333 MHz (PC2700), compatible with 266 MHz (PC2100)

* Type: 184 Pin DDR (Double Data Rate) DIMM (Dual In-line Memory Module)

* Twice as fast as typical SDRAM

* Built to Intel specifications * Slot(s) Required - 1 x memory - DIMM 184-pin

Any ideas as to why this ram is not working in my system? I double checked my motherboards specs to make sure it could handle it, and it can.

I used that AIDA32 program and it turns out, the stick of ram i already have isn't pc2700, but is pc3200. I also noticed that they both had different latencies but i'm not sure it i was reading it right. The aida32 program listed the their latency as highest cas latency and 2nd highest cas latency. For the pc3200 stick i already had, the highest was 3.0 and the 2nd was 2.5. The stick i just bought was at 2.5 for highest, and 2.0 for 2nd. Now, when your looking at ram specs, it will say for example that the ram has a CAS latency of 2.5. Is it refering to the highest cas latency or the 2nd highest cas latency?
