in France in certain towns the mayors decided that public transportations would be free. Left-wing revendication. It's already effective in a limited number of cities but there are only advantages. Not only the traffic in the town center is greatly reduced, but so is the pollution, and because they made the choice to use bio fuel or other low pollution energies for the buses and trams, everybody seems to enjoy the system. People meet each other more and the violences in town have been lowered too because of that. It's a good thing IMO because people are strongly pushed towards individualism and selfishness in this capitalist society of ours.
