Default RE: Depression - Lithium - 28-11-2004

An elemental title for an anything but elemental post.

The title is a song by Nirvana, that has held a lot of relevance recently:
Quote:I'm so happy 'cause today
I found my friends

They're in my head
I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you
We broke our mirrors
Sunday morning is everyday for all I care
And I'm not scared
Light my candles, in a daze
'Cause I've found god

Yeah yeah yeah yeah(x6)
yeah

I'm so lonely, that's ok I shaved my head
And I'm not sad
And just maybe I'm to blame for all I've heard
I'm not sure
I'm so excited, I can't wait to meet you there
And I don't care
I'm so horny, that's okay
My will is good
Yeah yeah yeah yeah (x6)
yeah

I miss you - I'm not gonna crack
I love you - I'm not gonna crack
I killed you - I'm not gonna crack
I like it - I'm not gonna crack
I miss you - I'm not gonna crack
I love you - I'm not gonna crack
I killed you - I'm not gonna crack

I'm so happy 'cause today
I found my friends
They're in my head
I'm so ugly, but that's okay, 'cause so are you
We broke our mirrors
Sunday morning is everyday for all I care
And I'm not scared
Light my candles in a daze
'Cause I've found god
Yeah yeah yeah yeah (x6)
yeah

I like it - I'm not gonna crack
I miss you - I'm not gonna crack
I love you - I'm not gonna crack
I killed you - I'm not gonna crack
I like it - I'm not gonna crack
I miss you - I'm not gonna crack
I love you - I'm not gonna crack
I killed you - I'm not gonna crack
In case you couldn't guess, the bold bits are the more relevant.

I'm so happy 'cause today I found my friends
In the christian Union here at L.U.

I'm so ugly, that's okay, 'cause so are you
Not as relevant now, but a couple of weeks ago, sort of how I felt (about Fiona)

in a daze 'Cause I've found god
It sturck me a blow to realise just how much God could help me through all my difficulties, now that I know how to ask Him.

I'm so lonely, that's ok
'Cause I'll always have Jesus' love.

I'm so excited, I can't wait to meet you there
I've spent the weekend in a youth hostel with the Christian Union, getting to know each other, and ourselves in God's eyes. I've also met Cathrine, who either makes friends too easily, or holds feelings for me. Only time will tell, and from past experience, I'm going to let it.

I miss you - I'm not gonna crack
At times in the past few weeks, I have really considered commiting suicide, but with God's, my friends, and the Christian Union's help, I am finally enjoying myself, despite weeks of depression.

I have also found a role for myself: I am now the AV (audio-visual) technitian for the CU's bands, connecting and cofiguring amps and mixing desks, and preparing the OHP transparencies with the words.

But I have a pretty good feeling that the spree of depressed posts may just be coming to an end.

"Humanity has two principles which it clings to and believes in: one for good times and one for bad times. The one for bad times is called religion" - Kurt Tucholsky

Well, whatever... if it helps you, I guess it's ok. But don't you start no jihad, eh? Wish you the best of luck, man... I mean it.

Yup... Jesus, Allah, the Buddha or the Great Spirit... or a certain conception of man. Congratulations, you're starting to realize you're not alone in your trouble.
Anyway, nice quote, wreckie

It's nice to hear, You're not the first person i know of who found a meaning through religion... what makes me appreciate religion, even in these days where evil fundamentalists roam.

It might cause a lot of problems, but it's sure helping a lot of people too.

And Lithium is a wonderful song.

This calls for an extraordinary mix of psychology and extreme violence!

yes. Agreed with Exilibur. Though i do not know the song.

However, i apreciate these things (the 'good' things) of religion. Obviously though.

hey, i'd just like to say congrats, depression, no matter the scale, can be a very painful thing, dispite my general happiness on these forums and on IRC, i've had depression for over 2 years, and i'm only 18years old. Suddenly finding something to believe in can be a very powerful influence, and remind you that life really is worth living.

Once again, congratulations, and maybe one day i will find god, or at least something to believe in / live for..

i was gonna suggest cookies from PMB.. but on second thought, i've decided to pass

I recommend religion and writing lyrics/poems for getting out of depression. No matter how horrible you are at writing, it will still help - at least it helped me.

These would make good lyrics for a band... not your average pop/Hip-Hop shit, of course... Doom Metal would be perfect, for example.

on the subject of lyrics...

Created by destruction,
Destroyed by its creation
it changes every moment,
yet always stays the same.

It spans for miles and miles,
But nothing seems to fit.
A second lasts a thousand years,
A year is but an instant.

Ether-er-er-er-er-er-er-erium.
Ether-er-er-er-er-er-er-erium.

Always in light and darkness,
regions have no bounds
A person makes a million sounds,
but hears much less than one.

You journey at the speed of light,
yet never move an inch
Someone somewhere calls your name,
but not a sound was made.

Ether-er-er-er-er-er-er-erium.
Ether-er-er-er-er-er-er-erium.
(repeat to fade)

My latest attempt at song writing.

Just don't ask what it's about... you'll just have to find out.
