Default Realbot thorough w/p for De_aztecx - 03-05-2004

I spent a good hour waypointing this map.. bloody hard
i tried it with a mate mainly because I did it for him to shut him up.. and it got a thumbs up and a kickass how smug was I

So you get the point.. only part in map needed tiny bit more work is the wee vent thingwhich is completely dark with ladders.. coodnt be bothered doing that bit because it was too intricate and i ran out of time 8D

You could use the "manage attachments" button and include it as an attachment ("attach files" under "additional options" - scroll down a little). But Onno (admin) isn't too crazy about flooding this board with attachments, so the better way would be to upload it to the filebase. However, I think you can only do do as admin / moderator.
Looks like an attachment will have to do... Or of course, if you have webspace, you can just post the link, but I suppose if you had you wouldn't have asked...

Btw, I don't have a clue about RB waypointing... but do you think that a WP where darker areas need work because you ran out of time is really "thorough"? Nah, I should stop nagging and shut up... forget it. Upload it here and let's leave the judgement up to RB users...

lol.. i did all the darkness levels for bots.. it is really thoruough like.. jus had like 3 mins to run in2 the wee vent gap crawl int he dark with a torch for company set waypoints fiddle with ladders and the sever wee jumps to get in2 the damn vent in the first place .. then of course my game crashed.. explanation wanted in help forum8D
anyway dont think bots wood use them
and afta looking at a new post on help section.. i saw the manage attachments.. so thats me told.. anyway i got exp, ini and rbw in the zip.. so enjoy anyway.. even if i cant
been working on cs_16fighter but my cs is fcuked in LAN now

Hm... just 3 minutes, you mean? But- can't you just continue waypointing as soon as the next round starts? Or do you mean that your server didn't survive more than 1 round w/o crashing? But even so, can't you save your work in progress with RB and carry on the nect time? Sorry about these stupid questions, but as I said, I don't have a clue about RB waypointing, only PB 2.6mm... Nonetheless, it's always interesting for me to see what the waypointing business is like with non-PODBots.

lol.. what i mean is i spent an hour doing waypoints one by one with variations for the whole map.. which to be fair is huge and twisty..
i had a 5minute time limit on each round and coodnt figure out how to stop the game timer.. so it was more or less a race genst time to find the right place and go through what i would do in this map and also what the bots are more confined too. thing with the vent part was that running to it and actually getting inside was a good 2-3mins after had set up the jump co-ordinates etc..
and cos its cramped i can barely move.. and with a couple of ladders to boot its tricky stuff.. so i got to the of sheer frustration so i gave up played it for first time and was deadly chuffed.. my friend was ecstatic as well so fine by me!
and about realbot waypointing i find ladders a bitch and have wrecked militias serwer aldders.. not sure if i fixed them tho still to c.. plus yes you can save your progress but a new round does not equal a reset in progress.. thank fcuk
anyway i shall be waypointing a couple more maps from now on.. still to fix up cs_16fighter.. struggling 2 get the bots to behave normally hmmph ???
about the crashing last nite tried a game of militia to see whether that was fixed with the deleting of blobs as you know from my other thread. and anyway it crashed after a round but im pretty sure my cs is just fab now.. btw i'm also working on cs_beirut.. a really good hostage rescue map with a lush enviroment and lots of attacking options.. nearly done that just need to complete the tower and im done.. I am currently working on cs_prospeedball, a small map in one room/warehouse like. t's and cts separted from side to side with many obstacles on the way with lots of dark places and shootouts possibilities.. looks like a great map for a 1 on 1
nearly finished it jus need to add a few waypoints and light levels then test it with bots.. my friends cs is wrecked so itll have to be on my opinion.. keep you posted

good job btw......but I have never managed to do a "thorough" waypoint in 1 hour With POD. I think it must be very different in RB than in POD because thats just not possible i think.....tell us more about how thats done.....inform us dude.......I, for one, have never waypoinited RB. I think tho, one doesnt have to cover the whole map with waypoints with RB.......right?

cool cool.. filebase is looking a bit bare on first glance for RB but ill c what i can do.
im starting to think that thorough was maybe the wrong word but it was a really long hour.. mainly because my console wouldnt let me bind a key for waypoint_add so that was fairly painful but its pretty decent i'd think..
dont no what you mean by covering the map with waypoints.. that just sounds nasty.. for RB you place down key points where the bot is to conenct to from each separate WP.. with gd gap can let it flow nicely.. still tryin to perfect doors and jumps. im sure iv sussed ladders though..
some bad news though i think iv royally ruined cs_16fighter so i think i'll have to start that one again beirut and prospeedball looking good so far though.. will see what else i can WP once iv done those..

Well, you have a connection limit, and the more precise you want bots to move, the closer together WPs must be. Basically it's easy - you walk around with a nice set of binds and add waypoints wherever bots should walk. Most connections are drawn automatically, but you can add/del them by pointing at the destination point and hitting whatever key you use. However, if two waypoints are not explicitly connected, bots can't go from one to the other. Besides, you can get many wrong connections drawn (through staircase railings, for exampe). And when bots try to follow these connections, chances are that they get stuck or something... It generally takes me something like 3-5 hours to cover the map with WPs and then 1-8 hours more to playtest the stuff and seek & eliminate any bugs, depending on how big and how complicated (doors, ladders, jumps, ledges) the map is.
How do you waypoint doors and ladders in RB?

This sounds more interesting w/ each reply you post... how come you can "ruin" an RB WP set permanently? Is there no option to delete faulty nodes and replace them?

just yesterday iv found out how the wptmenu works on realbot and it removes the 1,2,3,4,5,.... with the commands.. much to my dismay during a match!!
your descriptions of your waypoint is pretty similar to RB just i set out the main points i or my friend would use ingame and set them with a few feet apart..if it was real that is. then if i can i play with my friend to give the bot more experience and will give it the 'thought' of the best options, safest route, camp spots and where things go belly up. So for instance in the first few rounds it can get v. frustrating knowing its 1 on 1 your dead and your friend is walking around tryin 2 find the last CT when infact hes stuck running in2 a wall; thankfulyl over tests this goes away and it starts to run smoothly. you get 500 'markers' shall we say for each map althought im fairly certain i exceeded that with aztecx. you can set certain w/ps to have specific properties such as campmode ''duck'' '' stand'' or none so give them the option 2 duck/stand obviously. change light properties etc etc ill put the web link at end of post.. i dont like waypointing maps that have a substantial number of doors or ladders cos that just makes things complicated for me o_O but giv it a shot anyway.. im fairly certain ladders are getting better but i need to keep testing that. doors iv yet to see in action because i havent yet finished beirut to see these which indeed has A LOT or doors and is pretty damn huge map.. 500 limit is quivering.
cs_16fighter to me seems to have gone buggery.. just one bad connection after another sadly. if its not one thing its another and more i try 2 fix this it just throws it back and laughs at me.. so seems fair idea to start that map again >
that's all iv got to say except iv got my exams coming round the corner in under 2 weeks and i need to start revising so i might be a bit quiet. and ill be gone over the weekend at a Duke of Edinburgh walk 8o.. not to mention i do have a life outside of PC... 9_9
