Hi
I found a few bugs in build 2065.
My specs are:
2666 Ghz
512 ram
Running 31 bots.
On the map cs_assault you know where the backdoor is near the
CT's? Well the problem with the bots is that they try to 'open' the
door too many times so it never opens - in other words they press the
use key too many times so instead of the door opening it just
open-closes-open-closes but really its like you never see the door
opening. They should press the button once , wait for a few seconds so
that the door can open and try again. This was when there were like 3-4 bots near the door at the same time and it would never open.
Also in the same area as above, whe nyou go through the door you cannot
go through the right side of the place because that's where the door
opened to, you can go on the left side though. But the bots don't know that
so they keep on bumping into the door which is blocking the path on the right
when they could be going to the open path on the left.
Also in cs_assault - I maake sure the CT bots can move okay by moving around them alot of times but there are still a few slow heads around and they don't even move. I have to shoot them just so that they pay attention to me. And this was when I noded the map cs_assault - other CT bots move just fine but the bots that are on the opposite side
of the truck don't seem to be moving.
Also, I've seen 1 or 2 cases of the bot mike pretending to be a Terrorist when
he is really a CT in the map de_dust.
Also I've kinda noticed that if your a CT or a T and you walk around alot of times to get the nodes happening, if your a CT or a T the opposite team bots don't learn from it but only the bots on your team. Actually they do learn from it but they take a REALLY long time to put it into practise. I've spent alot of time with each side just to node the map de_dust <-- of course it payed off and de_dust works really good now!
Recently I also noded the map de_aztec, it works great except the fact that when I was in spectator mode I saw a few bots being careless - By this I mean that they were camping in the wrong spots, the kind of spots where the opponents can easily shoot them from behind. I think it would be better if the bots woould actually camp near or beside obstacles instead of the middle of the battlefield.
In spectator mode, I've seen bots in the middle of a battle reload they guns when at the same time the opponents are firing at them. I think the bots should at least try to take cover behind and object or just run away from the battle for a little while so that they can reload their guns more safely - then of course they can go back to the fight.
And in the map de_aztec, you know the place where the stairs are near the CT area so that you can walk up and down...well when I observing a bot it was trying to walk up the stairs to read the opposite side but instead of trying to walk through stairs it was bumping into the walls that were on both sides of the stairway. I don't know if realbot has this or not but if a bot hits a crate or a wall at some point at (x,y) then it should avoid going in the
direction.
Also, I've only noded about 3 maps so far...de_dust is complete, de_aztec is getting closer to completion and cs_assault is still in its infancy but in all the maps I still sometimes see one of the last remaining bots when everyone else is dead they are stuck against the walls - they try to move but instead they are stuck to the walls and they shake without moving...only they start
moving properly if another bot shoots at them and the 'slow' bot moves in the other direction for
its response.
Sometimes, I see bots moving completely backwards instead of forwards to their destinations even when someone is shooting them from behind. This happened in de_dust when the bot was under the tunnel.
Also, some bots just don't realize how high their jumping from, I've seem team bots die because of fatal jumping, especially the height when a bot jumped off which is just in front of the bridge in de_dust. Bots should know the height their jumping from and if its too high then don't jump from it. I was playing as a CT, and my teammate jumped of that height and he took 27 damage.
Also, I've never seen bots plant bombs in the 2nd bomb site just out of the tunnel in de_dust (not the one near the CT base, the other one). Same goes for de_aztec, the bots never plant bombs near the site that's the closest to the CT base even though I have many times.
And also the botmenu does not seem to be working, I try to remove a bot or end the game and it doesn't work. I even tried the updated botmenu which was for builds 2060+ but to no avail.
Also, when I disconnect and start a new game no bots appear...but I found that instead of starting a new game if you open up the console and type in " map xxx " then the bots load to the server as normal.
Hope this info helps to make realbot even better!
It was the right decision moving to nodes from waypoints becauase they are ALOT more
flexible than waypoints.
That's it for now, it looks pretty good!
PS: Unrelated to realbot but does anyone here know how to make the radio commands in CS more louder, because unless I don't put my volume up to full blast in windows sound properties the CS radio commands are just really low - actually even with the turn up its still kinda low. Thanks.
