How to get started

Hi all I have never used any cs mods since I started playing about 5 years ago.



I have been reading posts left on forums for weeks about running bots. But I am still no wiser about how to get started



I want to run 20 bots vs me on a dedicated server but don’t have a clue what i'm doing.



I know this may seem such a trivial question that will need a lot of explaining but if you have 5 mins spare could someone please tell me where to start

You need to install realbot ai 1.0, metamod (www.metamod.org) and realbot wip beta for the latest version.

Where do i put the metamod.dll do i just drop it in the cstrike\dll folder cos that seems too easy???

which realbot file do i download??? and where do i put that???

i have attached a zip archive, which is the complete filesystem of metamod, statsme and realbot wip (build 3046)

you can copy it in your half-life directory (which includes the cstrike directory) or lern from this example.

all files are required.
if you have counter-strike 1.6 you can it directly copy and override all files.

What I was wonering, and I figured i could ust reply to this post rather than make my own because it goes along with the same theme is;. I downloaded the ai 1.0 and the wip, and set it up, but do i put the realbot stuff onto my server, and change the metamod in the server, or do i change my personal computer metamod and keep the realbot on my comp.

and if I keep it on my comp, does it just let me add bots if I have admin access, or do I have to do somethin weird that way too?

i'm not sure, but i think that realbot has to be on the machine that is actually running the server. so if you are playing on another server, then the bots will have to be on it to play against them, since it hooks into the server code...
if you just want to play a lan game or want to host the server yourself with a dedicated server, you can do that. HTH

this is all weird to me.... i downloaded metamod and i tried running but it crashes.... im struggling all day to figure this out... i guess im not a computer genius... anyway i have installed realbot ai 1 and not activated activatects16 and didnt install realfix

i downloaded that metamod and put in into the correct directory but the zip only gave me metamod.dll and i made the plugins.ini and added the line for the dll

but the rest of the metamod instructions were out of my reach because i dont know what the instructions mean by config and stuff i need a easier version to follow or a direction

...... im so confused
