Default Realbot AI - 05-01-2004

Tring out wip v2060 and found that mEAn was tring to add bots but they where not joining. Found the new command to add is:"realbot add 2 0 5". When I used that, bots joined. You may need to update realbot ai to allow for this command. I know that the version I'am using is beta. Just thought you should know.

Thanks for the heads up. I plan on testing out the latest WIP with mEAn in thenext few days. Once I have it working with it correctly I'll release a new beta update.

I have not yet prepared a beta release with documentation for the new realbot, but you can try this modified version of mEAn. This one is very untested, but it was running all day on my server and is still going OK.

To get it to work with the latest Realbot WIP (metamod version), use the below modified settings for loading up your server

+localinfo mgamedll addons/metamod/dlls/metamod.dll +localinfo mbotmod realbot_mm

You must have liblist.gam load the mean.dll. The startup settings as shown above will tell the mean.dll to load metamod instead of the bot dll (your metamod.dll path may be different). You will tell metamod to load realbot_mm.dll as shown in the realbot install instructions.

so this means you did not get any mapchange trouble now? I assume you use the 'normal' metamod dll file. This one is from the metamod site?

I still get the problem. I'm using that patched metamod, so perhaps it will work if I switch to the normal one.

No map change trouble. Just a side note though-I used to have a problem with loading some dlls during a map change till botmiester told me about the (mapchangecfgfile server.cfg) cvar. It reloaded my server.cfg file. Just a thought.

I switched to the normal metamod around 12:00 am last night. This morning the log showed 3 server crashes. Unfortunately I cannot tell if the realbot plugin failed or not except since the last crash, which was over 3 map changes (at the time of this post). So all I can say is I got at least 3 successfull map changes in.

This still makes me wonder, i do want to search for any possible memory leaks on my side though. Perhaps my bit storage/reference has a bug? ( you can see it in NodeMachine.cpp at /usr/src/metamod/realbot_plugin/ on the bu server btw)..

will keep on searching, but now back to study , got a test tomorrow

Yup, I've been avoiding my work almost all day too - gotta stop checking in here or I'll get nothing done today

3 crashes in a period of 10 hours means something is going wrong too often. We should see at least 2 or more full days without failure, at least that's what I got with the old CS 1.5 server. I'm not sure how stable a bare bones CS 1.6 server should be, anyone know?

BTW, as of this post I got 7 successfull map changes in and the bots are still working fine.
