Default Differents bots at the same time? - 10-01-2004

Hi to all!

Is it possible to load RB aI v1.0 and RB_MM at the same time?
Can I simply add a second "gamedll"-Line with RB AI to the LIBLIST.GAM?

It seems to me, that RB AI is better than RB_MM - today I first played DOD again with the old Sturmbot - WPT-based, you know... - and it worked perfect, when played the first time, it was very hard for me to capture and hold any flag 8o and I tried it on different maps - could it be, that the whole problem with "not planting the bomb" and "not freeing the hostages" and "running around without sense" is based on a problem mainly with nodes?
If I take a debug look at the nodes, then it seems to me, that mostly the bots fail on interpreting the nodes, which were planted "by me" and my running...

There are many Bot-programmers in this forum - a compare between the bot algorithms would be interesting - which CS-bots are available for Metamod at the moment?

With best wishes,

the nodes system is still heavily under development. Its more like an answer to this waypoint question. Not all people can waypoint, nor do people want to. And, its also more chalanging for a bot coder. It just needs perfection.

Frankly, the pathfinder is not so different between the waypoint based one and the nodes based one. What you probably need is a hand-editor to correct mis-interpreted nodes by bots. If i can give you that, i bet you like Nodes more then Waypoints.

nodes are the safest way to go, for a bot to mesh is hard, because each height point has to have a mesh assigned to is, so the bot can tell how high something is and so know not to jump off, the only problem i find with almost all bots is there seeing code, when it comes to thickness of points, e.g. doors, and small crates

Uhm.... which runable version of RACC do you have installed? If asked Pierre and he said, there's no really functioning release of his bot, but he's working hard for this target...

Ok, which version of RACC do you have installed?
Is it a Metamod-version?
Where did you get it from?

i think Fiber Obtic means he cannot wait for the final version of racc... i don't see a real statement he knows of a (good) working version of racc.

Yes, Stefan, you're right - i've missinterpreted the sentence.

OK - now is it possible to install RB_MM and RB AI at the same time?

Yes it is, but it may not work very well.

Have metamod load up RB_MM as per the realbot_mm instructions, then have metamod load up the RB_AI DLL using +localinfo mm_gamedll ../realbot/dll/realbot.dll

as botmeister said, you can make it work. I don't know if it will work stable though...

note:

rb ai v1.0 uses rb_addbot
rb wip uses realbot add

the wip version is 7points ahead of the AI version, use the WIP version if you know how to use MM, otherwise use AI.
