Default Realbot 3062 - Suggestions - 30-11-2004

I like realbot but there is a problem with the node system (i think)
Playing in cs_assault with 5v5 teams (1 human vs bots)
The problem is when i went on the roof of the Terrorist building, the game crawled,
Upon leaving that area all was back up to normal.
No bots were following me so could the node dropping system be having a problem at high heights or something else...
I haven't looked at the code so I can't really suggest a solution.

Hmm, it has been a while for me. You mean you did not play with the bots earlier on that map before? (ie you where learning the bots how to play , but you already added a few?).

I will try ti myself and see what happens.

Sorry I wasnt clear there.
I was running a Listen server, on a pc perfectly capable of running cs but the cpu usage would run high at that point in time (when on the roof), which didnt happen when I first went up there plotting the nodes, and no bots wanted to take the route.
I am assuming it was RB cause this lack of performance since it never did this before,
I am also wandering if you would add the option to turn on and off the auto node dropping system, since could this still be running in the back round and it records the tricky jumps RB can't do.

well, auto-noding is only done on areas where you did not go yet. So it will stop eventually

The auto-noding itself does not eat that much cpu. The bot probably did not find a path correctly. Perhaps a bot saw you on the roof and wanted to go there but failed to create a path to it.

I have an idea for knifes with RB, why not set a range value where if the target is not in that range the bot should runaway and look for a weapon to pick up, and adding a drop weapon about now may solve the bots problem when they run out of ammo, it may also improve the performance since its seems in some situtations the bots are confused and are unable to do anything but run back and forwards.
The fps drop may have something to do with the ladder on the roof of the building in cs_assault. Just when I approach it the fps drops, and when I get off the ladder from the Red crate to get to the roof, since it does not get so bad when on the CT building maybe it has more to do with ladders, lol.

i installed hpb_botv4 to work in cs, I installed it properly and its works fine except, I decided to have both Realbot and HPB bot working at the same time, hpb bot are basic in cs as they dont buy, use radio commands, or remember where they saw an enemy, but they have a quick navigation system and the ability to shoot, which kept them in the game lol.
They can use the knife effectively, maybe lookin at how they use the knife could help realbot?

I get this error in the realbot log;

UTIL_GetGrenadeType unknown grenade model

It doesn't affect the bots in game but an error is an error.

ps hpb bot are more simple than realbot but could still play just as well... sometimes.
At least Realbot can plant the bomb lol.
