I tried it. Both HL and CS 1.6 works well - a little laggy compared to Quake 3 Arena on my old computer though

unlike HLDS, Steam for GNU/Linux is still required to run the game after downloading

Unmodified version of YaPB also works with a little trick (renaming cs.so to cs_i386.so)
