Well the illegal warez version of XP Pro is great (as it's cracked and doesn't need to be activated), but the legal version is not
Just imagine the day when M$ or Valve is closed, or there is only something wrong with their activision server... then your software can no longer be used.
also I prefer Debian's version of GNU/Linux distribution as it has tons of packages
