I understand you want to make it like the forum, but what im saying is that you change the forum buttons too.
unless you guys want the plain text links I would go with buttons, aslong as I give them an alt name, if you cant load the pictures the text will still be there.

I don't know, this buttons looks too big, too much eye taking. The text links are more... nice in this case.
