That's true and a very interesting comment, Whistler... besides, you explained things very clearly and understandable. I learn something new every day...

Yeah, you're right - I mixed up freeware with open source software. I don't know as much as you about all that stuff. Your comment about being completely at the mercy of a program's authors if the source code is not freely accessible also sounds reasonable. I just have the imnpression that in the case of Opera, the authors actually didn't do such a bad job, as Opera is especially popular among people who appreciate "safe surfing". However, another aspect to be taken into consideration is that any kind of malicious code is just more likely to be aimed at a browser that's used by 90% of all people (IE) than at a browser that's used by < 3% (Opera)...9_9
