I must laugh...I'm not sure where the idea of SPAM got started, but ours is way down. Pres. Bush's last law he signed so threatened the spammers that they backed down far enough for american business to regain a foothold. Even if this 'can spam' goes thru, it will be with restrictions including a do-not-spam list like our FCC just upheld. The american people are just as fed up with spam as the rest of the world, but thanks to (I hate to say it) the Republicans, spam slashing has made my company stock (RRDONNELLEY publications and catalogue mailings) go WAYYYY up and we are getting contracts left and right thanks to it.

Again, I cannot say that my views are more accurate than yours, but being a native of USA, I think (or at least hope) that the president realizes that ALLOWING spam would seriously jepardize his re-election. I doubt that he will sign the 'law' without utter contention and conditions...
