Well, .. as you said,.. most players just drop when a custom map comes up.

I guess they have been trained by bad programming that forces the DL speed to be capped to some ridiculous limit for downloading the maps in game, even if you are running a server that has like 800kbs LEFT OVER after it takes care of all the players on the server....

Plus further weirdness like not being able to offer map downloads AT ALL because of security reasons. (Anyone thought of NOT downloading .cfg files in-game???? wtf. this is crap.)

I have found that IF you:
Offer map installers that are 1 click (finds the correct directories from the registry and installs all files no problem)
AND
You advertise a link to these easy installers,
THEN
about 30% of the regular players WILL
FINALLY DL them.

As it turns out, the average CS player isn't the best or the brightest out there!

If anyone has anything that works better please let me know…

THis was enough to push me over th eedge and install 1.6, which at first pass was less then satifying, since it didn't work..

Oh well, once they get the bugs worked out that WILL BE COOL!
