memory error

tried to load RACC tonight from the liblist, I commented out the original metamod line to let RACC load it but it gives me a memory error.

Re: memory error

Which version of RACC are you trying to run ?

If you run the template, be aware that you must unpack ALL your .pak files for the game to work. It's because the navmesh needs the bsp files to be accessible in order to open them and draw the world map for the bots.

Also be aware that the templates are DEVELOPMENT versions which are NOT SUPPOSED to be a playable bot.

Was there a playable version to download or just the templates?

Re: memory error

The template #2 is roughly the equivalent of the previous playable version. Only the sensing/action capabilities of the bots have been greatly improved but the AI that drive it all is almost the same as before, hence the bots won't do super smart things... yet. For example, the bots will hear all the sounds as accurately as humans, but they won't react to them. The bots will also have full knowledge of the map, but they won't use it. They also will have great 3D vision capabilities, but will only use what their basic AI is programmed to use. So even if this template is highly interesting for programmers, in the end for players it's the same thing as the latest playable version, with little improvements at all if any.

Re: memory error

So at this point, RACC isn't worth it for someone to run bots on their server that isn't a programmer?

Re: memory error

RACC is under development. It says what it means.

Would you say of Half-Life 2 (which isn't out yet for the good reason that it is ALSO under development) that it would be, RIGHT NOW, worth it for someone to play games on his computer that isn't a programmer ?

To me that wouldn't be any fun :)
