Bots don't reply to chat/players/words
 

I used to use the original POD bot(the old 2.5 version) a couple of years ago, one thing I liked was editing the chat files and adding more stuff in there to make the bots more human player-like.

With the new PODbot I can't seem to get the bots to reply to words. The botchat.txt is there and it has the [REPLIES] section.

Bots do chat but they never respond to any words at all.

If I type "aimbot" or "again" the bots are suppose to reply to you using the phrases above right? They don't reply at all though, they do chat when the bots kill someone but that's the only time they talk.


When I used the old 2.5 POD bot, I remember bots almost always replied to anyone talking but the new POD bot, the bots don't seem to even reply at all.

Anyone know how to fix this problem?

This forum is about Podbot MM (2.6) and above.
I don't know if this is any differentin Podbot MM.
Maybe, lowercase "AIMBOT", "WALLHACK".

I know, I meant that when I used the old 2.5 version, bots replied to players/chat but now that I am using the lastest version of PODbot MM, bots don't reply anymore.

By default the words are in all caps though I did try editing it and using lowercase letters for the word but it still doesn't work.

I also edited in both the "botchat.txt" file and "botchatEnglish.txt" files, still the bots never reply.

Edit: It seems bot do reply to other players but the chance of it is REALLY low(at least for me), I had to spam the word for about 2 minutes straight before a bot replied.

Also, it seems only dead bot seems to be able to reply, alive bots don't seem to reply to players.

It'd be nice if you could edit the chat and reply percentage of the bots.

Alive player - to reply You - has to stay for a while, type something, then he is continuing going to the goal. If I would do the same with bots - the people would complain, too, the bots instead doing something has to reply to some stupid keywords. That's why they are replying only when they are dead.

Yeah I know for players it'd be inconvenient to reply to human players but bots can reply instantly since they're bots right? They don't have to actually have to type the words when they reply back.

Also even though the bots do reply while they're dead, the chance they'd reply is really low it seems(at least for me) because it took me 2 minutes of just constantly typing a "keyword" for the bots to reply for them to actually reply(this is with 20+ dead bots too).

I was wondering if you could add a cvar that allows you to edit the rate/percent bots reply back and also let them reply while they're alive.

I like editing the chats of bots and adding more words they reply to because it makes the bots a little more "life like" and it's really fun to just see how the bots chat sometimes.

That would be inhuman behaviour, which I cannot do. The goal of the bots authors is always to make them the most human like as possible.

Please check if in Your podbot.cfg there is a line:
pb_chat 1
(0 means chating disabled, 1 - means enabled).
I was testing it yesterday and it was working for me. The only thing - You need to wait about 5-7 seconds until they will reply. They are replying when they are dead, but You have to be dead, too. Otherwise CS is blocking seeing messages by alive/dead players. Alive player can talk to alive player, dead player can talk to dead player.
