Yes there is HPB bot and rcbot.

I have run both those under HLDM.

Rcbot has much better AI but has some (for me) problems such as bots are not kicked as humans join and the min and max players is only adjusted after a map change, not dynamically in response to players joining/leaving. I have tried to get help on this on the rcbot forum but no response so far.

Rcbot would be great but it is a shame I cannot use it because of these problems.

Try out JKBotti, the best HL bots for me. :)

I just did a few minutes ago and I like their AI almost as much as rcbot. This is a VERY nice bot.

Unfortunately (for me) the bots shoot at monsters instead of ignoring them as HPB bot did. I don't always run monsters on my server but when I do I don't want bots killing them because I put them in for the players to enjoy. If they die before a player sees them my time coding the monsters has been wasted.

I don't see any way to turn this off in the config so I assume this behavior is hard-coded into the bot which is unfortunate because I won't be able to use them for this reason.

Still haven't found anything that is better for my needs than HPB bot although the AI is really dated and I would love to find something better.

Anyway, for the original poster the two bots mentioned will probably suit your needs just fine.
