Bot status
 

Hey,

I've noticed some people have trouble with the bot. Lately i have been reinstalling CS 1.6 and tried to get RealBot working on it. It took me a bit of effort but things work perfectly now.

If i find time, i will package up what i have now to ease the pain of installing RealBot.

Aside of this, looks like CS: Source is still not keen on having third-party bots. So i wondered how 'big' the community of CS 1.6 still is. In other words, is it worth to retry coding RealBot (partially or not) some day?

I think Counter-Strike 1.6 will be played for a long time, the Sequel is already there, but it seems, that it do not have the " magic ", that Counter-Strike 1.6 have. But very important are the Leagues, if the price money for Counter-Strike: Source will raise, than many players will play it.
I would be very happy, if there were future versions of your realbot :)

To be honest, i do think CS 1.6 is still a great platform to show your 'ai skills' , or just for fun to code bots. And since it does not update that often (and breaks bot-support and such) , it can be called quite stable.

I noticed RealBot did not work out of the box, probably noticed too late ;-) But it is never to late to fix a problem.

I have managed to retrieve the very latest build (3062). Got it compiling with the new metamod and so forth. Bots happily playing. I will probably wrap up a new file which is totally the new version (WIP 10 as it is called), making it easier to install as well.

Maintenance work is planned to fix up bugs for this bot.
