Eagles_2way_b3 project
(Map by Loffy and Drakir based upon the movie Eagles Nest)
Those of you who have been to my mainpage may know that this is my waypoint project for the end of the summer. Well I have been working on it this weekend and it is getting to a largely playable state. So I will post a preview WIP version for Fritzbot ET 0.70b in the next day or two (right now only test snapshots are posted). Given the difficulty this map creates for waypointing it will be an early WIP version. Because of the large number of objectives regular Fritzbot ET can't support all of them intelligently (it only supports 16 action tests). But I wanted y'all to have a review that won't crash regular Fritzbot ET (much). Starting next week I will be off waypointing for a least a few weeks. And any postings of this project after that won't work in Fritzbot ET 0.70b, instead you will need to install the required experimental beta. So those of you who want to follow this project should think about installing a copy of Wolfenstein with the latest experimental beta version of Fritzbot ET (you can have multiple installations of W:ET on the same Harddrive, with one different version of Fritzbot in each). Server admins note: Given Loffy's feature bloat in this map and the scripted entities needed to make it bot-telligent, I would not recommend unattended hosting). And If any of you can't run it try using set com_hunkmegs 128 before loading the map. |
Re: Eagles_2way_b3 project
Lightly tested and with a few bugs, the preview WIP 0.03 is on my site. It demonstrates how bots can somewhat use a cablecar. I suggest you play along as an allied engr as the bus and lower castle door are problematic sometimes, and they may need help surviving the 2nd barrier shock and awe.

Re: Eagles_2way_b3 project
Ok had some time so 0.04 is much better. And it still supports regular Fritzbot ET 0.70b final. Allies may now have the advantage (TBD).

Re: Eagles_2way_b3 project
A eureka moment I think. I should be able to use the cable car action tests as housekeeping blocks to periodically test actions like those related to the bus position. That can free up a couple of action test blocks for things like the mgtower etc. One of the helper functions is called every 10-12 seconds (the others double that) so there will be a variable delay between these actions and their effects. (But at least the axis engineers will after 0-11 seconds stop trying to rebuild barrier #2 when the bus has already passed )
What this should mean is the future WIPs etc. will remain compatible with Fritzbot ET 0.70b and not require the experimental beta. (Though the beta will still be a recommendation for issues of bot behavior when a stolen object is dropped). |

happy times :)

Re: Eagles_2way_b3 project
Eureka followup:
0.05 is posted, with action 13 providing support for the moving cable cars as well as action code for actions 115, 116, 180, 9, and 82 that I could not have done normally with the 16 action test limit of Fritzbot ET 0.70b final. (The action 82 hangar door code in action 13 test block may give some node max connection warnings in the console). So the bots may take a variable number of seconds to respond to the change in the bus position but it should be 12 seconds or less. A couple of actions had the wrong group setting, and better axis defense of the plane and air field. S.O. balance testing shows Axis favored 2:1 over Allies. So any feed back you give I will try incorporating next month. |
Re: Eagles_2way_b3 project
I haven't checked this out at all, as I've been tied to a rock while vultures eat my liver. It sounds good, though!
I hope to investigate and have feedback sometime (sigh) next week. |
