Linux Fails to load the .so file

I am running Ubuntu Linux, and I got the latest version of EPB. When I start the HLDS server, I get an error when loading the .so

I am sure that it should have no problem running the i686 .so instead of i386.

Any thoughts?

run your dedcated server in the console (not screen or deamon) and show us the error output

i believe you're missing some libraries like linux-compat

Read this topic. It's related to podbot mm, but it might be common for all linux users.
