A small patch available!

A VERY small, but important patch in the files section on the main page.

1. Known "nuke" attacks for online servers have been defeated - you shouldn't have any issues running a server online now. :) Major thanks to hsAGENT for help with this fix!

2. Fixed error that was causing bots paths to truncate their path if the path was a really long one, causing some goofy bot pathing errors on big maps. An ironic bonus is that the pathfinder is also just a BIT faster now too.

The filename is "Fritz_053c_Patch.zip". Extract the .dll into your "fritzbot" folder, and enjoy!

Cheers! :chinese:

OK, there is a VERY IMPORTANT update to the 0.53c patch up on the main page ATM. The filename hasn't changed.

A small bug with the pathfinder has been found and fixed. Overall pathfinder speed improved just a bit more too. Bindle - this should fix your mp_zion issue.

I won't have any time over the next few days to really work on code much, so I'm hoping you guys can test it on EVERY map, as much as possible, to see if there is any issues. Hit it HARD, and let me know if you see any issues.

Cheers!

Another small patch for 53c - not as important, but has one neat little feature: you can now mark a node as a "walking" node. If a node is marked with this flag, the bot will walk to that node, instead of running to it. Really useful for dangerous ledges, or tight spots where you need to be sure the bot stays on the path. 64 is the "walking" node flag.

Crapshoot: I added the changes you requested too. :)

Cheers!

You could have already done this before though just set the top ladder flag on the node and it works great (Bindlestiff told me of that). Still a nice feature though, you should add the node wait thing we we're talking about (if possible) or button support, but i request too much.

Can't wait to try this out. :euro:

True, but its actually cheaper this way, since the bot isn't running its CPU expensive ladder handling code/checks at the same time. ;)

I see, okay then, no problems there.

Using the ladder flag works well MOST of the time, but if there REALLY is a ladder close by, a bot will sometimes look for the ladder right at the node where you lied to him to get him to walk. He'll bend over and look down (usual ladder-descending posture) and begin jumping up and down, eventually getting stuck in a corner somewhere, remaining there until he is killed.

Thanks, Mal, for adding that in! I didn't expect you to get around it for some time yet. Flag 64 goes into my map file right away.

Hey no problem, although we are not quite done with it :)
I tested it out on my own local server (with sv_floodprotect 1) and noticed it is still possiable to crash. More details in your pm.

It should be fixed now, I think. Try it.
