Installing realbot (Steam + realbot_mm.dll)
I have tried for several days now, I have read everything there is to read on the subject and I still can't get it to work.
I have the steam version of counter-strike and have downloaded the latest version of metamod.dll and realbot_mm.dll. I have installed them in the correct locations as per http://wiki.bots-united.com/index.ph...nstall_metamod and http://wiki.bots-united.com/index.ph...amod_plugin%29. When I start a game, I get the following text in the console: ************************************** Metamod version 1.18 Copyright (c) 2001-2005 Will Day <willday@metamod.org> Metamod comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY; for details type `meta gpl'. This is free software, and you are welcome to redistribute it under certain conditions; type `meta gpl' for details. RealBot: meta-interface version mismatch (metamod: 5:12, RealBot: 5:10) RealBot: plugin attaching realbot - command reserved. Notice: Assuming you run Counter-Strike 1.6 BUILD 3266 SER ************************************** So the metamod is working and it can find the realbot dll. However when I add a bot (with 'realbot add t 1' for example) I get this: ************************************** ] realbot add t 2 ================================================== ========================== REALBOT: Successfully created bot. ================================================== ========================== WARNING: RealBot is NOT installed into the correct directory! WARNING: rbnbx files will not be created nor personality files! RealBot connected ************************************** But only one bot joins, and only as a spectator. Its also telling me its not installed in the correct directory. So whats wrong? The frustrating thing is I can find very little information on realbot, just a simple readme file would do, but I cant find any. Many links to FAQs etc are broken. Like http://wiki.bots-united.com/index.ph...ll_RealBot_WIP, or http://wiki.bots-united.com/index.php/RealBot. I get much conflicting information between the metamod style bot, and the old style, I can't separate it.. I guess this (http://realbot.bots-united.com/readme/installation.html) refers to the old style bot? I have read this (http://forums.bots-united.com/showth...4&page=1&pp=10), but it didn't help. I am at my wits end! Please help! Chris |
Re: Installing realbot (Steam + realbot_mm.dll)
the last link you post is a correct one. The first (referring to the readme) is out-dated.
There where pretty well documented pages on wiki, probably gone due the shift and never put back in. the difference with RealBot is that RealBot has an own 'mod' dir. Therefor loading it is a bit different. The directory should be in your CS folder. So you get: Counter-Strike\RealBot and NOT: Counter-Strike\cstrike\realbot and so forth. To set up the plugins.ini correctly: win32 ../realbot/dll/realbot_mm.dll RealBot The .. refer that it is not in the cstrike directory, but in the main counter-strike directory. |
Re: Installing realbot (Steam + realbot_mm.dll)
Shame the pages were lost.. :(
I have the directories as you describe (I managed to peice that together from reading various posts), but my plugins.ini was slightly different. Changing win32 ..\realbot\dll\realbot_mm.dll RealBot to win32 ../realbot/dll/realbot_mm.dll RealBot makes these two warning messages disappear: WARNING: RealBot is NOT installed into the correct directory! WARNING: rbnbx files will not be created nor personality files! However the 'realbot add t 2' command still only adds one bot, and only as a spectator. |
Re: Installing realbot (Steam + realbot_mm.dll)
Thats very odd, since RB auto detects its directory and knows if its not installed properly.
There still has to be some error in the directory structure, perhaps a typo? RealBot will automaticly create personality files and rbn files. If they do not appear, it means it could not fin dthe apropiate directory to put them into... |
Re: Installing realbot (Steam + realbot_mm.dll)
see this one about the spectator problem:

Quote:
C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\sprintstar\counter-strike\cstrike C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\sprintstar\counter-strike\realbot Overwriting the small realbot_mm.dll in C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\sprintstar\counter-strike\realbot\dll with the larger one from C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\sprintstar\counter-strike\cstrike\addons\metamod\dlls Causes it to load properly without any warning messages, but they still only one bot joins as a spectator with the command 'realbot add t 2'. Any idea whats going wrong? Why does your zip file have 2 different realbot_mm.dll files? Whats my next job to try and get this stuff working? Chris |
Re: Installing realbot (Steam + realbot_mm.dll)
well I downloaded that .7z file to check and saw only one realbot_mm.dll file, and it works. Dunno what your problem exactly is :(

Re: Installing realbot (Steam + realbot_mm.dll)
I am getting the exact same error, has there been a resolution to this?

Re: Installing realbot (Steam + realbot_mm.dll)
I downloaded the "realbot-1.7z"-file.
There is only one realbot_mm.dll as far as i can tell. You mension that you overwrote "C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\sprintstar\counter-strike\realbot\dll with the larger one from C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\sprintstar\counter-strike\cstrike\addons\metamod\dlls" The one in "metamod\dlls" is named "metamod.dll" and the one in "realbot\dll" is named "realbot_mm.dll" so I don't understand how you can overwrite one with the other? Maybe I have missread something (it's late) but if you extract the files in the compressed file correctly it should work... at least it works for me :| Can you post what's in you "plugins" file and what's in your "liblist.gam" file and maybe a screenshot of your filestructure? Maybe someone can spott something? Hope you get it solved! |
