Welp, anyone?
After recent archive cleansing found that lil jar, killed few hours. Quite fun waz it. No huge sdk's, kb's, bloody rtfm's n'such. Anyone played it or knows such games? Maybe got robo's/rovers to pitfight? Post'em here.

Well, anyone?

After recent archive cleanup found install module for Robocode (the whole thing is done in java). Spent few hours tweaking my old robots.

Anyway, Robocode is programing game where youre goal is to program a robot to fight on 2d arena with other robots (to beat the crap out of others actualy).

Mindrover is more mini-robot-simulation like game. You begin by selecting scenario (kill-them-all, find exit from maze, speed race, sumo arena, ...). Then choosing chasis (wheel, track, hover...), then put some equipment (vis/track/bearing sensors, engines, fof-systems, weapons, ... ) on it. And finaly wiring (literaly) it all together. Something like ?RobotWars? TV show.

As for links, just google them. Robocode ended-up somewhere on SourceForge. You can try www.mindrover.com or www.cognitoy.com for Mindrover, if thing still there. There was also links to ISO-images somewhere.

So, anyone?

Pardon me harsh lingo. Again.

I used to have robocode on a shareware CD but it was so a long time ago... the concept was brilliant and very promising but the realisation was a disaster, I hardly ever seen a game that ugly. Don't know what they did since :)

Never heard of the other one, though.

I've been using Robocode for a java course, found it quite nice actually. Don't know what version you have seen, PM, but the recent ones look sweet, nice UI etc...
I invested a few hours programming a bot with random evasion tactics and set it up 1:1 against one of the top bots of the robocode league (yep, there is such a thing), it sure was fun to watch :-) My bot won a couple of battles but couldn't beat the other in overall performance. I was thinking about extending tactics, but didn't have any more time to spare...
