Virus Detected!!!!!!
 

When i downloaded the latest Realbot release for windows, (the one with 59000 and odd downloads) my Norton anti-virus program detected a backdoor virus when i tried to unpack the zip!
BE CAREFUL PEOPLE!!

yes, that must be a mistake by some antivirus company, that they tell that realbot is a virus. we already had this topic here, just use the search function

Well I'm not too sure because after doing some searches it looks like all major antivirus tools (norton, mcafee, kaspersky) finds the backdoor virus in this.

My norton finds the virus, too.

I downloaded the source and compiled, and then it can't find a virus in my compiled binary.

Maybe someone has replaced the released version with a virus infected one. That *HAS* happened before and is a common way of getting viri out.

Nonetheless, I think you should modify the release zip to some extent so any antivirus tool don't report it as a virus because AFAIK spreading viri is a punishable crime in most countries.

I'm with Johnny on this one. If all the major AV are saying there's a virus there, and if when it is compiled from source, a virus is no longer detected, there may be something more to this than just stupid antivirus software...

I suppose you can get the source if you want and compile to see if it still detects it as a virus.

Can anyone just download the sources (like Jonny Got His Gun did it), include that easy fix for steam (like splorygon described it - to make this bot still alive) , recompile it and upload it to the filebase to stop this discussion?
