Bot Chat Interaction Won't Work

I just installed JoeBOT 1.6.5.3 on my Steam CS 1.6 game. I started up a listen server and tested the bot out, and everything works beautifully, except when I say things like "lol"(one of the things a bot is supposed to respond to) nothing happens.
Also, botchat is on and botichat is set to all.
Other chat features(bots yelling at you when you friendly fire them, etc.) work fine.

hm, no idea. I don't have cs 1.6 on steam, just the old cs1.6 and there it is working ...
