Counter Strike 1.5 Hangs
I have the latest half-life, realbot (not WIP), and CS1.5 (no steam)
This is a fresh install of CS1.5 CS works fine without bots Installing the bots leaves me with a hang on the ĻloadingĻ screen (black, with yellow background) After a minute or two, processor and disk activity stops, so its clearly not loading any more I let it go for an hour or so, but nothing happened All the files seem in order, does anyone know exactly why itīs happening? -palmem |
Re: Counter Strike 1.5 Hangs
I wonder if the version of realbot that you have is designed to work with CS 1.5.

Re: Counter Strike 1.5 Hangs
just wait a while and it will be okay.
the Realbot 1.0 only comes with "incomplete" waypoint files which only contains waypoints, not connections between waypoints. At the first time you start a map, it will automatically make every connections of waypoints which is time consuming. |
Re: Counter Strike 1.5 Hangs
yes, its time consuming, but it surely should not take an hour!
You could try to find the complete waypoint package, so you don't have to calculate them yourself. Or, you could try to wait as Whistler said. What are your computer specs? |
Re: Counter Strike 1.5 Hangs
I have a p4 3.06 ghz, and 1 gig of ram, but I am running linux
This whole thing is running through cedega Cedega is a program that lets you run windows .exe files through linux Itīs really cool, but seems slow Thatīs probably it Iīll let it sit while I eat breakfast or something Just a side note, it also ĻhangsĻ like this when I click console at the main screen, not when loading a map, any reason? -palmem |
Re: Counter Strike 1.5 Hangs
hmm, i don't think its handy to run windows EXE files through an emulator, this wills low it down a lot. Try calculating the maps on a dedicated server (under linux itself).. this will work too and will work way faster...
I have no clue about your console problem. Perhaps the same reason cause of using an emulator. |
Re: Counter Strike 1.5 Hangs
well I'm running HL 1.1.1.0 in WINE (free version, not non-free version of Cedega/Winex) and it's all okay... except the fonts are a little ugly, but it works
I can also cross-compile windows binaries in GNU/Linux btw :) edit: well AFAIK it doesn't "hang", and it actually crashed. run WINE in the shell and when it "hangs", press alt+tab to switch to the terminal window and it will give you the information to say it crashed. |
Re: Counter Strike 1.5 Hangs
For some odd reason, it now decided to work great!
Thanks for the help, though How did you get half-life working in wine, it wonīt let my put in the cd-key... -palmem |
