Fix the aiming PLEASE.
The bot aiming is totally fucked up and there is a maximum recoil that the bots reach. In addition the recoil is completely inaccurate, it almost seems like every bot has the same recoil regardless of weapon. Here's what is wrong:
Bots reach a maximum recoil value and once this is reached they will not move their camera from that relative position. As in, if a bot is aiming at me and shoots with an AK47 and the end position of the recoil (after 3-4 shots) is 15 degrees up 8 degrees left, the bot will unload his entire clip at those coordinates. However if the end recoil is looking straight at you, the result can be that the bot will unload an entire clip into your head, chest, arms, whatever, withour suffering any disadvantage. This is most noticable when the bots skill level is high, and I get 3+ headshots from across an entire map (usually on mindmaze2) from an MP5, a TMP, etc. It's absolutely fucking rediculous. Are the developers not working on the bot anymore? Because if you aren't just come out and say it. I've posted about this before, I've posted about noding problems, and nothing has been done. Stop adding more bloody features and fix the bugs that are STILL there. Add a spring system to control bot aiming, at least two other bot creators on the forum use such a system, and it's the most realistic system that can be easily managed. And the last thing you need to fix is that the recoil for each weapon needs to be accurate compared to other players'. And then once you have an accurate recoil system you can code in styles of play for each weapon. Such as making 'elite' bots with an AK47 double tap the trigger to kill instead of holding the damn thing down. |
Re: Fix the aiming PLEASE.
maybe you should goto the MAIN REALBOT WEBSITE (http://realbot.bots-united.com) instead of the forums to see if hes developing... :CTFB:
He is working on a bot for Counter-Strike source. :RTFM: I really love your language as well. :| The recoil can be adjusted, and Ive never had a problem with bots aiming, if anything they aim too good, but if you completly hate it or your settings are screwed up or something, install mEAn Bot.Admin Mod and activate the setting for expert players which changes the bot aiming system. o_O IF there are bugs, thats because your either using the OLD AI 1.0 which wont be updated until a good version is found that is very stable, or its just a few new minor bugs hes working on. 8o IF you are using a WIP, you dont need a noding program, thats the whole point of RealBot, THEY LEARN! 8D :RTFM: Quote:

Re: Fix the aiming PLEASE.
why shouldnt one post improvement idea's when he's workin on a bot for CS source ? 8o I think he's at school anyway ...

Re: Fix the aiming PLEASE.
this guy definatly did not follow my news messages. The only priority i have is school, RealBot is not even on my list to work on. Neither a CS bot. I just tried that in a period of time for fun when i could work on it. Atm i have no time, one of the major reasons RB went open source so people could look into the code and fix things they always wanted to see fixed.

Re: Fix the aiming PLEASE.
same as be stefan... I just check on my server everyone once in a while and install something new if theres any new updates or new plugins at AMXX. Then I post some msgs on forums then HW... 9_9
@ V or 'Tex Please read all the information given to you before complaining on posts or asking for help on something when its posted elsewhere. Even if you dont find it you can just tell us and we can show you where, that is if you dont have an attitude with it... |
Re: Fix the aiming PLEASE.
Hey, I've been around here a long time. I've bitched about these problems before. I've posted suggestions and offered input many times. I'm pissed that every single update has ignored the existing problems. And I do use the latest WIP.
I've read all the fucking information and I'm telling you guys: after months there hasn't been a single attempt to fix these problems. Not one. And yes, they do get headshots, they don't aim like normal people, and every problem I posted is a very real, very significant flaw in the design of the bot. I am dead serious in telling you that at enormous range I've been sniped by MP5s, Desert Eagles, and other weapons because of the huge flaws in the recoil algorithm. It quite literally 'stops working' after several shots. This is most pronounced when I force a bot to use whatever weapon I give him, such as an M60E4 ('Para'), in which the bot usually misses completely for the first 4 shots and is then stuck, quite obviously from first person view, to aiming a certain amount in the x and y axis from the actual target. If a target is lost then the aiming resets. I've seen a bot shoot 90 rounds into a spot just inches above my head because the recoil algorithm 'sticks' and doesn't move from that position. It's been open source, and I'm not asking Stefan to do this. I know he's been unable to work on this project for quite some time. I'm saying to all the potential developers that this project has died because they failed to fix the bugs that were so obviously there. They didn't just fail to fix them, they never attempted to, they simply refused to fix them when they were prompted to. They had no initiative and they thought it was out of their personal domain of problems that should probably be fixed. |
Re: Fix the aiming PLEASE.
what you could try to do is set down the sensitivity. I dunno if the buytable supports this. But you could try to compile the source yourself . There is some definition where the sensitivity of the turning is handled.

Re: Fix the aiming PLEASE.
Still, that would not affect the bots aiming being recoil-independent. It's almost like realbot is individually controlling the recoil for each bot, and I don't know if this is necessary or not but it's certainly not an accurate representation. Particularly when the aiming 'jams' at a certain x/y coordinate relative to what it should be at. The first person view of a bot will seem to act normally from recoil but within 5 shots the recoil is permanently stuck at one x/y value and the bot will shoot with 100% accuracy at that point. If you're standing there, then you die. It's that simple.

Re: Fix the aiming PLEASE.
yep, if you know it that exactly, then go, get the code and fix it. as far as I know stefan hasnt spent too much time on this due to his mathophobia ;P

I dont have those problems like you and yet I dont feel I should help you. Ya your frustrated but jesus... I run mEAn, and its great, just try something different! The most I'm dealing with is: 1. Bots arnt hard enough 2. STABILITY (and I still cant get it right...) And I've been here as long as you or even longer, even though THIS account says 2005, My old account, which got deleted or corrupted somehow, was created in 2003 or earlier I believe... I cant believe your trying to find ways to be superior over us/me. Calm down and think about it... |
