Re: convince me!
Heyyo,
It's really hard, but really fun. I had a great lan party on this game. :) You also can use bots with it. I like to use RCbot for marines and hive, or with whichbot for the hive, and then I just go on marines n' build stuff for them (sadly, they don't know how to do commander. Cheesh tried basic commander abilities in early versions of RCbot but that idea was apparently scrapped :() Still, give it a shot, it's pretty fun online too. It's a pretty sucessful mod, but for NS2, they wanna make it like DOD:S where you have to pay extra to play it... so that's lame... |

uh
total description of the mod, please? ps: how to do bot vs bot matches in this mod? |
Re: convince me!
Heyyo,
Well, think of it like, the RTS game known as Starcraft, plus a FPS element like Aliens Vs Predators. As marines, you need to have 1 commander to tell you and your team where to go, and how to do things like build a structure here, go over here, attack this over here, etc. After that, your team (if they bother to listen) will go there and start to do your command. Usually at the start you wanna build an infantry portal, or your team will not be able to respawn. After that? I suggest building a refinery to get resources (money) and then an ammo depot near the infantry portal. It's always a good idea to bury your infantry portal into a far back place, hard for the enemy to get to. Then just build up some defences with a turret generator, and some turrets. For the Hive (like the zergs in starcraft) you need to evolve yourself into a better warrior, or into a builder. The builder (forget its name.. I think a goerge) can then build buildings in the direction he's facing. Usually try to build some collectors (refinerys) and then some of those defensive pods. The 3 possible main hive locations also act as the spawnpoints for the hive, and the hive has no commander, so the hive depend on the usage of radio and voice commands in order to work efficiently. Here's a link to download the latest RCbot beta: http://filebase.bots-united.com/inde...on=file&id=210 To try RCbot in natural selection? easy, here's a few guides: Install RCbot: http://rcbot.bots-united.com/forums/...?showtopic=516 *Optional* install RCbot with Whichbot: http://rcbot.bots-united.com/forums/...hp?showtopic=7 |
Re: convince me!
If you want to play it online, you'd best find a clan or gaming group to play it with. In my couple-month experience, the public servers are _bad_. Mostly its just a bunch of 10-14 year old boys screaching at the commander on how to play his role, and the alien team isn't much better.
Buts thats probably just me, I've had nothing but terrible experiences with its community. The bots available for it work and play the game allright, but they're nothing amazing. NS is a difficult game to make AI for, so it surprises me that there is even bots. |
