im not going to do it...the last contest i was in was a fuckin joke :) people didnt even stay on the theme of the contest and made it to the top 10

I'm coming up with a harbor style dm_ map consisting of a few buildings around a small cove. I've never made a deathmatch map though! I'm assuming all you have to do is create spawn points (info_player_start) all over the map. What I can't figure out yet is how to set up Hammer for HL2DM!

im not sure how they do DM in HL2 but in HL 1 the mapper didn't set the spawn points... that was done "server side" -ish u whould have to plot the spawn corraidates similar the way they do waypoints... and if my memory serves me each map would need that ( file type ) to the spawn every where "trick"

Now, spawns were created with info_player_deathmatch by the mapper.

Spawns both were and are placed by the mapper using info_player_deathmatch.

I think that I will join the contest. 5000$ is quite a bunch of money for me. It just sucks that I have to send the map on a CD with snail mail...

when does the mapping contest end anyways... lol you know why they are having a mapping contest.. .cause Valve is lazy and they don't wanna make maps for HL2DM so if they give money away they know people will make lots of HIGH quality maps... at least thats IMO
