Idea's to sTop bots going over the edge

how about having a cone that wraps around the bots legs (from knee\shin) going out round at degree of 45 and checking surface hit ideally if the bot were on a beam the center would be hit but the rest of the trace aroung it would hit nothing, telling the bot it can only move this much side ways and forward\backwards how good it will work? how consuming it will be?? |
Re: Idea's to sTop bots going over the edge
I have basically the same feature in RACC (see my screenshots thread), it works very good. You can't trace all the way round the bot though, as it is quite consuming. The best ratio against efficiency and precision is one trace per side of the bounding box (N, S, W, E).
I don't use 45° traces but vertical traces though, because bent traces would be more likely to hit a low wall or any obstacle, thus giving weird results if the bot doesn't interpret the obstacle correctly. |

yeah ur right maybe a square box instead of a circle that trace straight downfrom all four corners or something would be more efficient
