Council Member votes required! GraveBot applies for joining BU

Good news!

Another bot coder in the house

The only (?) bot for Science and Industry: GraveBot

http://www.nocensmundus.net/gravebot/

Its author is Ghoul, some of those who were at botman's back in the old days may remember him. Well now he has a bot on his own and wants to join. I just got an email from him. His bot is based off the HPB_bot template 4 (like almost all the bots out there for any Half-Life mod) but it's interesting nonetheless to host a non-CS bot for once :D and SI is still widely played...

I guess it's no problem if I quote him (he applies, so it's not "private" stuff I'm quoting) :

HLDM:
-Bots choose goals based on conditions such as health, armor, weapons, and
ammo. Given enough time, a bot will eventually collect full armor, all
weapons, full ammo (secondary for the MP5 too), and get the long jump.
-Bots won't engage in combat if they're at a major disadvantage (I used
enemy health, bot health, enemy weapon, and bot weapon to calculate this).

S&I:
-Role system that dynamically deciphers what the human players on a team
are attempting to do, then assigns ally bots various roles to balance the
team (you can see this in one of the images at the website). Using the
team cash count and team scientist count, the number of attackers and
defenders is altered throughout the game. Bots are then assigned a role
(offense or defense) and a subrole. Subroles are then broken down further
so the defenders/attackers are balanced evenly for their tasks.

What do you think ? I'd let him in for sure... :)

Well if we keep getting all these bots coming in pretty soon the front of the forums is going to take minutes to load.. perhaps we need to figure out a way to organize the bots?
is this council only vote?

Ugh sure, maybe we should vote for my upcoming cube bot too ;)

Oh and btw I don't think most bots are based on template 4 but on template 3 :P

Or we could let it take place one of the discontinued bots epodbot or ivpbot.
I personaly don't see the benefit of the dead bots having a forum section. we could just store i somewhere else for viewing only. So the information (if any very important) would not be lost.

I voted yes.
But i didn't held the project to the latest approval list ..
Is there a working version released ??

I might have to go back to NO if its not complying to the latest acceptance rules.

Well I still miss a forum section like "General bot discussions". It would be a better place for 'dead' bots, bot requests, general bot info(which bots exist for example) and discussions for bot projects which aren't member of BU.

Seems like majority of Council Memebers is reached. But let the people say something for a while if they want to add their 2 cents to this dicussion. ;)

Yup, 3 council members voted yes.

GraveBot can now join Bots-United anytime ! Welcome !! :)

One request though: that a beta be published soon (but as I've been told by email the beta is ready already)

Ghoul told me he already registered an account at Bots United, maybe he will post a few lines here to introduce himself now :)

Hi. Thanks for the warm welcome. :)

I've actually been registered here for a while now and following the Bot / Metamod Dev forum, just no posts until a few days ago.

I should be able to have a beta of Grave Bot out soon, possibly even this weekend. My main concern is stability, so I need to run some listen/dedicated server tests on map rotation for a few hours to make sure there aren't any horrible bugs. I'd like to fiddle with the way level transitions are handled before it gets into the publics hands, so I'll probably do that this weekend.

Currently the only major feature I can think of missing is bot chatting. I removed botman's code because I plan on integrating a system of commanding bots through team say. I'll have all this information posted on the website in a few days once I have some time. Blasted homework.

So, you'll be seeing me around. Oh, and one of the admins should have an e-mail in their inbox soon, tonight if I'm not too busy.
