i think that a forum inside offtopic just for day to day operations of bots united is what he is suggesting.

not a bad idea.

respectfully submitted,

lol, I was about to press the "submit new thread" button when I saw that you already submitted it :D

I second this idea.

How to do it ? Do we need to split the offtopic section in two ? I'd rather not, it makes browsing the forums a pain when you've got to dive through several levels of hierarchy to get to the forum you want.

In fact I'd rather add a "Bots United discussions" forum just above our moderators forum, but this forum would be open to all users... We would then post most of the stuff we are discussing here in this new forum, and keep the REALLY confidential things (Council votes, etc.) in the original admins forum.

What do you reckon?

Re: offtopic

when i first misread his post (TruB), i thought he was calling the previous post offtopic...

then i thought, well- where should this thread be?
my answer - in a bots united announcements thread.
then i wondered...where is this thread?
i found it inside 'the parliament' and it made a lot of sense.

seems like 'the parliament' would be the best place to bring things to the council.

yes, great! add a new forum in the "parliament" section, then ?

Council, vote requested, now ! :D

While we're at it, I wonder if it wouldn't be a good thing to move the "Parliament" section at the top of the forums, or perhaps just below the bot forums... we need to increase traffic in this section, it's where the community and the 'fun' are supposed to arise. If this does, people will enjoy much more hanging around in here for discussing a lot of things and not only to find an answer to the problems they have with such or such bot. What do you think ?

I agree 100% with what PMB and Rob are saying. We have to get people participating in decisions by expressing their opinions about BU.

Put a new forum in the parliament section for expressing suggestions, comments, new ideas, bad ideas, etc, all about BU open to everyone.

Agreed, no need for a news system then ...

Why not? I was thinking about a single place where announcements about new releases, updates to BU, etc are made. The Agora is a different matter I think.

There's a thread in the Agora started asking for a consolidated news/announcement section BTW, we can take this in there.

I think we should have a news system, this should be linked to the main page of BU.

This means: At the BU home page, you can see news items of all bots, you see headlines and perhaps the first sentence.

So:

[RealBot - News bla bla - By Stefan - At xx/yy/zzzz]
yada
(click here for full news -> refers to the original page)

[JoeBot - News - By Aspirin - At xx/yy/zzzz]
yada
(click here for full news -> refers to the original page)

etc.
