error when starting dedicated server

Hello,

i'm trying to use the RACC bot with the newest version of steam and version 1.6 of counter-strike. everytime i try to start a dedicated server i get this error message:

initlogfile(): unable to open log file ("racc/release/messages.log")

i've checked to see if the log file is in the correct directory, i've deleted it to see if it would create a new one and i've deleted all of the files contents.

i'm using template #2 of RACC

any help would be much appreciated. i'm very interested in A.I.

thank you,
Mike

No RACC is Steam-compatible, currently. I have put in half the code needed to make it Steam-compatible, however I couldn't test it because my Steam CS asks me to download GIGABYTES of Steam cache eact time I try to connect a bloody server, and I can't reasonably wait days in front of my 56k modem each time I want to play with my bot.

Hence I'm sticking with CS 1.5 for now... but I'll try to make the upcoming release Steam-compatible, with the help of Stefan and others.

wow,

I’m surprised at how quickly you replied. I too know how those lengthy those steam updates can get, I’m also behind a 56k modem. I’ve noticed that the RACC bot requires at least version 1.1.1.1 but I can’t find it anywhere. Can you maybe point me in the right direction? It’s interesting how some humans feel the need to be outsmarted by lesser beings, don’t you think?

LOL, ah that's it :D
Well if you intend to use the template, be aware that the AI is calamitous... The template is just what it says, a code base for developers wanting to make a bot out of it. The code I use is quite more advanced than the template, actually. In the template, there is no cognitive stuff, no goal/tasks for the bots, and although the pathfinder works it is not activated. I suggest you wait for the official releases of the bot :)

ahh yes.... patience... my mom mentioned this when i was younger. i can't remember what she was going on about it though. oh well. i would make a bot, but i have no idea how to program. i'm sure i'd just smoke way more than i do when i build a computer. i have to use my hands more and move around a lot.:P

about steam, it has to be a pain to keep going back and updating your work because valve decided to change some things around. i thank you for your time in creating AI. although i wonder if that whole "rise of the machines" thing will happen from the work put into RACC...

hello. i had the same problem :( for a while i couldn't figure it out, but then i did.

it was my liblist. i had \ instead of / in the line 'gamedll'

so i changed it, then sure enough, it worked. its amazing what the small things can do :D

you used template #2 on steam and cs 1.6? i've been having a lote of problems lately since that last update. i mean, i hate valve and all, but this is making it much worse. all i wanna do is get killed and not have any problems in the process! anyway, i'll check the liblist.gam. thank you
