waypointpacks

would be nice to gather the pacs from forum and place them on filebase for easier download (i don't want to dig in forums cause i hate it)

you can safely delete that post

Re: waypointpacks

Rar is nice ! And there is a free archiver which can read RAR archives (can't make them...)
http://sourceforge.net/projects/sevenzip

Re: waypointpacks

Unfortunately RAR archives handling isn't available on Linux...

Re: waypointpacks

rar under linux? it is, at least from all before 3.x version
http://www.rarlab.com/rar/rarlinux-3.3.0.tar.gz
but as far as i rember it requires some libs

Re: waypointpacks

Well, it's not available by default, that's what I mean. You will get tons of questions from Linux users about them unable to unpack the archive.

.tar.gz rulez ;)

Re: waypointpacks

Hm, that could be - although I like it a lot and I can't imagine why somebody wouldn't. But then again, there really are some ppl who expect different features from their WPs. They might regard things you and I'd call "features" as "shortcomings" - and vice versa, of course.
Now the question is: what to do, how to proceed?
If we just let everybody upload his files, we won't be better than any other waypoint site. That's why I'd advocate uploading tested stuff only.
Even so, is it really that good to have WP packs from several people which inevitably will end up in offering 5 WPs for one map? This counts especially because WP packs are a surprise package and you don't even see what's inside before you d/l.
However, I can imagine having ppl add WPs to the filebase that differ considerably from "normal" WPs - like "no ledge, no ladder, no water" WPs that force bots to take only the easiest passages... this would at least be stuff that's not totally doubled and could be described somehow.
Difficult...
