Artificial Intelligence, definition of 'bots'

Okay, lemme throw some subject in here.

I've been thinking (uh oh!)... we at Bots-United host Bot sites. THe bots hosted here are 'ai opponents' and they fight in a 3d world , simulating 'internet' and all that stuff. Some go very serious in AI , taking cover, swat like. Some just want to have a shooting moving target.

I was also wondering, how far do we go in relation to other AI specific things? For example, i have another project, an RTS 'engine' (game) , it also requires AI. But this is some totally different stuff. Yes, you have an A* path finder. But thats where the similarity stops.

Perhaps it is interesting to have some forum about it as well. Unless we of course totally focus on 'bots'.

In general, how far and how 'broad' do we handle AI? I do not ask for a new forum i ask for opinions, a view, etc. (there would be quite some interesting discussions when it comes to AI on an RTS game i think)

Yes.. to all this you're perfectly right.

But one thing at a time... IMO it would be best to get rid of that "Bots United = Half-Life bots" sticker. And get other bots here, and write a very basic, but working, United Bot.

I agree we should not try to take too big steps in to little time :)

The Bots-United = Half-Life bots sticker should be removed asap. I am thinking about investigating the FarCry engine once RB goes open source (officially ;)).
