Austin!

Hey guys,
I am back.
Sorry to not update you all on what was happenning.
I had a heart attack and had to give up CS/CZ for a while.
I am fine now. It was the least serious attack you could have but it was
bad enough for me.

So, a little advice to the younger people out there.
EAT HEALTHY FOODS!

Welcome back, and glad you're ok!

Re: Austin!

1) First thing I am doing is re-writing my map hack mm plug in. I am making it simple to add in more spawns and guns and things plus using my own read/write of bsp files instead of the code from ripent.

2) Is source worth it?
Thinking about upgrading to source...

3) Do you know if there is updated code samples of reading/writing the new source format bsp files? I haven’t had time to check this out but I would imagine there is an upgrade to ZHLT for source, including the source!

4) How is nav editing going for the cz bot?
Are there good doc on this now? (edit - foud your tutorial tx)

5) Can I adjust the bot’s camping without editing the nav files?

Just got back into it a few days ago am running a cz only server right now

Welcome back! I was wondering where you went.

Anyway, while you were gone, someone came up with a program called EntEd to edit HL and HL2 BSP files' entities. It needs optimized, because at the time it was written, it just moved the entity lump for HL2 maps to the end of the file if it was too big (my idea).

Anyway, if you want to make it work better, you can use this information here.

And may you have good health.

I guess that bspfile.h is from the new source sdk?
I will get a copy of hl2/cs source, and then dl the sdk and go from there.

EntEd looks barebones, but nice. Good work!
Thanks for the info...

wow, heart attack! Glad you're okay!

Source, imo worth upgrading!

Yes! Source is worth upgrading. Even if we expect changes in the SDK from Valve in the near future, but after all that was also the case when HL1 first was out. They need time to find and fix the SDK weak points.

I was wondering where you went too! heart attack... nasty :( Glad you're ok! :)

Re: Austin!

Thanks for the imo, stefan.
I needed one more to push me over the edge.
I was just a "little" leery with valve's track record!
Going to buy it today and setup a source server.
I guess this also means a new pci express machine and Ati Radon x800.
The never ending quest for bigger and better hardware!

PM!
Hey dude, you are still at it!
The new sdk looks like an improvement, at least a move in the right direction - formal support for plug-ins and bots! I have only done a little reading but what I saw I liked.

Can some one point me in the direction of a sample plug-in project for source ready to build and test? Perhaps the sdk has a reasonable one? Will know later today….

I don't like to talk too much about myself, but incase anyone is wondering my "event" put me in the hospital for 3 days and sort of scared me at the time. As it turns out it was a very minor heart attack. At the time it was happening I thought "this might check me out of here!"

I am fine and that is all I need to say.

So I am looking forward to experimenting with the new sdk with y'all real soon!
Tx.
