Re: Wiki

Hi,

yeah for some reason the db files where missing. In the end the type innodb/myisam got mixed up during the transition from mysql 4 to 4.1.

Its fixed for now, I dumped the db and re-imported it.

Please see this thread for more infos, what went on with the server:

Re: Wiki

Anybody have an idea or prognosis about the latest wiki server problems. it has been like this for 2 weeks.
Quote:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator to inform of the time the error occurred and of anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Web Server at bots-united.com

thx

It was broken after trying to fight the wiki spamming...

Re: Wiki

So do I. Since coming back up the spam attacks are doubling each day though I expect that the number may throttle back a little by mid week. Last summer the attacks came in brief waves on a lunar or seasonal cycle, this year they are a daily tidal force.

Thank you all your great work keeping this server going. Linux may be free but it is not free from headaches in my experience (and Debian gives some of the biggest ones).

Now what I want to know is who is fool enough to pay somebody to spam links in a unrelated private wiki for stuff nobody wants or trusts. If only we could follow the money...

Re: Wiki

Well the spammers are winning now. Even if I go in daily, 20+ pages will be full of spam for an average of 12 hours. And it would take 2 hours out of my week! So instead I will maintain my bot group's articles (fritzbot) and the main page as often as I can, and leave the other articles alone unless I have time on a weekend for a full clean. I suggest the other bot developers consider actively maintaining their own group's articles until a better solution is possible.

Re: Wiki

You need to disable non members editing shit. You're just asking for these problems when you allow anyone to edit.

Agreed, sadly. :(

Re: Wiki

Well today the spam bots made 3 attacks per hour roughly 6 times more than a month ago. :taz::cursing::censored:

If we can't keep them out I may soon have to start moving some articles to new pages (unless the spambots are choosing pages by following links!).
