Bot commanding

Hello! I was just wondering why the bots never listen to me when i tell them you come or the fall back or medic or engineer. Once in a while they say affirmative when i say come with me but nobody follows! Thanks for any help!

They are just pulling your leg. They know you're cannon fodder ;)

NO actually the bot chat is mostly just to make it feel more real, more human. While statements as to functions may relate to actions performed or abilities, there is no command and control of your individual bot teammates through chat or vsay etc. On the otherhand unlike some other mods you don't have to ask for med packs, revives...

Now if you want bot puppy dogs Mal did implement that in ETQW (patched), but not in FritzBot ET 0.7. I don't know if he ever intended to add much team commands to FritzBot, but it would have meant 2 major changes (bot selection of goals would need to be more complex, and navigation into areas not yet open to a team i.e. cvops holding teamdoors open). And that would have required a lot of work especially since telling an engineer to follow you at the wrong place and time might lose you the match if they had to obey.

at least you can ask them for ammo/medic packs by saying "i need ammo/medic":ninja:

Is Mal not planning to update or adding more features to the Fritzbot in future?

well, I think he may be too busy with his work @ Id Software as his last activity here is more than 2 years ago :(

I think the absence is just as likely that his employment contract limits what he can do in private projects like FritzBot. That way Id need not worry that a closed mod will show up with ideas out of the next version of Doom.

unless his employment contract is completely different than DrEvil's (which is not likely since they work together), it's time that is the issue.
